 Carvoeiro

The quaint Carvoeiro Town is located on the Algarve coastline, between Portimão and Albufeira.
With an excellent climate and surrounded by beautiful landscapes, this town is located in a valley, its white houses contrasting with the blue sea and sky of the region.

The charm of a fishermen's beach and a small bay with crystal clear water. A cosmopolitan tourist centre. Boats can be hired to visit caves and isolated beaches.

A little of History...

Due to its location, Carvoeiro has always been an area of interest throughout time, since the Roman Empire, which is proved by archaeological finds – a Roman stock and anchor.

This location also witnessed attacks from North African pirates, as well as the ensuing battles between the D. Pedro da Cunha Armada and Turkish Corsair Xarramet, around 1544.

The name Carvoeiro originates from an era when the region was inhabited by medieval fishermen of Arabian origin, deriving from the word "Caboiere", which means old fishing hamlet.
